{"id":718,"date":"2010-10-13T10:59:36","date_gmt":"2010-10-13T14:59:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/faculty.bbc.edu\/mstallard\/?p=718"},"modified":"2010-10-13T10:59:36","modified_gmt":"2010-10-13T14:59:36","slug":"tommy-ice-and-the-barndollar-lectures","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/our-hope.org\/blog\/2010\/10\/tommy-ice-and-the-barndollar-lectures\/","title":{"rendered":"Tommy Ice and the Barndollar Lectures"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/our-hope.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/Ice-Thomas.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-733 alignleft\" title=\"Tommy Ice\" src=\"http:\/\/our-hope.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/Ice-Thomas.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"128\" height=\"148\" \/><\/a>A couple of weeks ago we had my good friend Dr. Tommy Ice present &#8220;The History of the Doctrine of the Rapture&#8221; in the Barndollar Lectures at BBS.\u00a0 Some of the things I appreciated about Tommy&#8217;s presentation are the following:<\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0 He did not try to force the pre-trib rapture into the early church fathers when it was not there.<\/p>\n<p>2.\u00a0 He helped us to understand that some people in history like Bede who are taken to hold to a pre-trib rapture by some hold to a conflagration view, not a pre-trib rapture view.<\/p>\n<p>3.\u00a0 He helped us to know with hard historical facts that the pre-trib rapture doctrine predates Darby.<\/p>\n<p>4.\u00a0 He helped me especially to put some things together that I had not seen.\u00a0 From my dissertation research on Arno C.
