{"id":1475,"date":"2017-07-04T09:22:00","date_gmt":"2017-07-04T13:22:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/our-hope.org\/blog\/?p=1475"},"modified":"2017-07-04T09:22:00","modified_gmt":"2017-07-04T13:22:00","slug":"homegoing-of-another-close-friend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/our-hope.org\/blog\/2017\/07\/homegoing-of-another-close-friend\/","title":{"rendered":"Homegoing of Another Close Friend"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have not posted in my blog for quite sometime. \u00a0Transition to a new ministry has sidelined me quite a bit in this matter. \u00a0I have been traveling a lot internationally for my ministry at Friends of Israel. \u00a0In the last year, I have been to Poland, Germany, New Zealand, Australia, Israel, and Argentina. \u00a0I hope to bring some regularity to my blog (once a week?) in the days ahead.<\/p>\n<p>The reason for my blog today is not pleasant. \u00a0I have lost another friend who was with me during my days at Baptist Bible Seminary. \u00a0Dr. Bill Arp has gone to be with his Lord. \u00a0The gain is heaven&#8217;s. \u00a0The loss is ours and it is deep. \u00a0Bill was one of my closest friends on the faculty. \u00a0The wisdom flowing from his longevity at the school helped me much as I negotiated the ups and downs of academic life. \u00a0When I flew up to Clarks Summit, PA in April 1994 to interview to teach at BBS, the first home I was in was Bill and Joanna&#8217; s. \u00a0I remember the lovely dinner and the lively conversation. \u00a0But most of all the family warmth. \u00a0I spent numerous times in Bill&#8217;s home over the 22 years I was at the seminary. \u00a0His love of family was apparent. \u00a0It was a pleasant place to be.<\/p>\n<p>Bill was a quiet scholar who knew his area of expertise (Greek &amp; NT) quite well. \u00a0He also had some breadth as we discussed issues of theology and ministry. \u00a0Above all, he was a praying friend who cared for me and my family deeply. \u00a0He was an easy man to love. \u00a0I will miss him greatly. \u00a0His legacy continues.
